Bitter Moon & After 5:08: Berliner Kinder
"Pretty in the Dark" is the first single taken from "Berliner Kinder", a collaborative album between two Swiss bands, Bitter Moon and After 5:08. The music video for the song was directed by Réka Csiszér of Bitter Moon, artist Corinne Odermatt and filmmaker Radiana Basso. The album was officially released on December 2, 2022 via BlauBlau Records.
Bitter Moon is a duo consisting of Simon and Réka. Their music can be described as a hybrid mix of atmospheric and cinematic soundscapes, groove-laden analog pop songs and Vangelis-inspired synthetic odysseys.
After 5:08 are a band formed by Aloys Christinat and Matthew Franklin. Their music has been intentionally described as "safe".
For the music video for "Pretty in the Dark" Réka had a desire to create something handmade and personal. The idea was to create a stop motion, analog, and hypnotic video that would capture the feeling of loneliness in a brutal environment and with the desire to reinvent the world by repainting it. Like the first hand-painted color films, pastel shades bring vintage photographs to life, transporting us into a dimension that is both abstract and futuristic. Through an insistent repetition of stop motion images, geometries are broken, looks are broken, and bodies are transformed.
