Houstones: Adderall

Houstones: Adderall

Houstones is an alternative rock/stoner rock band formed in 2012 in Locarno, Switzerland. The band was founded by vocalist and guitarist Saul Savarino, who has been the only constant member throughout multiple line-up changes. The current line-up consists of Savarino alongside Joel Pfister (Drums, percussion), Maurizio Cuomo (bass guitar) and Serena Maggini (Keys and vocals). Formed after the dissolution of Savarino’s previous band Macnamara, Houstones developed a style of riff-oriented, heavy rock music. Their sound has since evolved to incorporate a variety of different styles and influences such as Motorpsycho, Verdena, Flaming Lips, Queens of the stone age, Melvins, dEUS, Nirvana, and Tame Impala to name a few.

"Adderall" is the just released new single and video written with the current lineup.

The band explains “It started out as a Tool-inspired song, but during the writing it turned into something different, at least in our opinion. But the atmospheres remained nocturnal, dark and of the rest, the song is about an addiction to Adderall, the drug used as a cognitive stimulant and, in parallel, to that addiction that sometimes develops in relationships. Physical and psychological dependence, both positive and negative, the lyrics speak of lies and power plays in relationships that fuel an almost always destructive relationship.”
