Dawn Rix! Welcome Dawn and thanks for chatting. What has 2021 been like for you creatively?

Creatively 2021 has been like watching flowers fully blossom. Songs I have written prior to have come to life and are getting released worldwide. I have cowritten with and have had my music produced by some of the best in the business. Super blessed to have been recognized by and signed as an artist and publishing deal with Emanant Music.

We are loving the new single "I Wanna be Holdin You", what inspired this song?

It was written as an "Anniversary Song" by Ava Paige, Corey Lee Barker and Tery Wayne. I heard the demo and immediately sent it over to the incredible Billy Gaines. It had his boicecwritten all over it. After he heard the first line of the song he instantly fell in love with it as I did. We both thought WOW this would be a great duet!!! Next thing you know we were in studio recording vocals and shooting our Music Video. We both love to include our Fans Family & Friends So we had them submit photos and we had a beautiful lyric video put together and up on YouTube. It is a truly a great representation of what the song is about.♡

Speaking of writing - Do you write only when you feel creative or do you keep a writing routine?

I wrote all the time. Some of my best lyrics and ideas have come to me when I have been driving or midflight to or from Nashville. Honestly my mind doesn't stop. I am always jotting down thoughts, writing out Video treatments and sometimes prior to even writing the song lol. I keep my phone within reach to access the voice recorder or to type in notes.

So many things inspire me and pull at my heart strings.

How did you know this was going to be your next single?

I knew it would be my next single as soon as I asked Billy Gaines if he would sing it with me and he responded "Absolutely!" Lol An opportunity like that is one to be sure not to miss.

The lyrics of the song, our mutual love of it, the way our voices blend in perfect harmony, and knowing how many hearts would be touched by the message were reasons even more relevant to release it!

Who inspires you the most in country music and why?

Wow. That is a tough question. I truly am inspired by so many in country music. Seeing the support of musicians, artists, writers, etc our entire music family come together when in need ...keeping our dreams afloat when we barely have our heads above water... one particular person does come to mind. We just lost him to COVID the storyteller himself Rick Tiger. He was such an encourager and wise man... took so many of us under his wing.

I had just sent him my upcoming song "Tennessee Miles" to listen to and he emailed me to say it was perfect.. and my anthem! He always said "Never Give Up young Lady get out there and show em how it's done!"

Tell us where we can check out your new music and follow your journey.
