Interview: The Modern Gentlemen

Interview: The Modern Gentlemen

Individually, Landon Beard, Todd Fournier, and brothers Brian and Brandon Brigham were originally brought together by the legendary Frankie Valli. For well over a decade, they’ve wowed audiences all over the world with the rock 'n' roll icon as The Four Seasons. During their long tenure with the group, they developed their own identity as The Modern Gentlemen. Valli heard something in them that he never found in any of the configurations of singers he'd worked with. Together in the studio, they finely tuned their "signature sound" breathing new life into the Great American Songbook and so much more! They’ve performed on the world’s biggest stages, from multiple sold out concert tours in London, England at Royal Albert Hall with the London Symphony Orchestra, to the O2 Arena, Hampton Court and BBC Proms In The Park for over 40,000 people! In 2014, the gentlemen represented their country on, "A Capitol Fourth" in Washington D.C. with Michael McDonald, Patti LaBelle, John Williams and others, as well as two separate engagements on the Broadway stage. They've toured all over the U.K., Ireland, Asia, Israel, Canada, Italy, Australia and New Zealand. They’ve shared the stage with The Beach Boys and Manhattan Transfer, starred on two PBS specials and have appeared as headliners in Las Vegas and their own residency in Atlantic City, NJ. TMG is unlike any other vocal group of their generation having been a part of one of the biggest and most influential rock 'n' roll bands of all time!

We recently had the pleasure of checking in with The Modern Gentlemen and they were kind enough to respond to a few interview questions.

We have The Modern Gentlemen with us today. We are excited to hear your new music. How did you choose to lead with this single?

We all collectively chose this one as we loved the arrangement so much and thought it showed our own “spin” on this classic hit and the direction we wanted to go as a vocal group.

What has been one of the moments of your career that stands?

Getting to perform all over the world for over a decade with the legendary Frankie Valli.  It was a great experience being a part of one of the biggest American rock n roll groups of all time.

Tell us more about your music and what influences it?

We all have different tastes and musical influences of course.  What makes us different is that we all sing lead vocals, but also come together as a vocal group and sing complex harmonies and blend which allows us to be able to sing many different styles and genres.

If you all could open a show for any artist, who would it be?

There are SO many!  Diana Krall, Michael Bublé, Smokey Robinson, Michael McDonald, the list goes on…

What are some recent victories in your career that you are celebrating?

We just recently filmed our 2nd PBS special which should air in August.  We are excited to share that with PBS audiences.

What significance/ role do you feel music plays in culture?

All we know is when we get in front of live audiences and sing some of the greatest music of the American songbook and more, it takes people back to happy times and certain moments of our their lives…it’s almost like a time machine.  We love to see their smiling faces and happy tears in the crowd.  It truly makes what we do worthwhile and fulfilling.

Where can we find the single?
