Radon Ultra: Johnny & The Phoenix

Radon Ultra: Johnny & The Phoenix

Radon Ultra came alive as a 4-piece ensemble where all bands should start, in dingy rec rooms and garages. It consists of Gwynn Davies, Kyle Mons, Kit Dean, and Chris McKerracher. These artists turn Radon Ultra into a vessel for evocative sounds. Overlaid they create a musical narrative. They hit the stage at Felicitas in 2018, competing in the Battle of the Bands to the finale. During the battle, they recorded their first two studio tracks, The System and USSR. Throughout the summer, they headlined shows to support the release of their record.

The band uses two electric guitars, powerful vocals, and tight bass and drums. They sound like the rock artists, The Smashing Pumpkins, Matt Good Band, and I Mother Earth.

They have opened for artists like Sweeet Action and Standard Issue Pleasure Model. They have organized shows to display local rock artists. For the Campus kick-off week at Uvic, they returned to play Bands on the Roof and the Blue and Gold Afterparty.

Their single Kamikaze came out early 2020, and they’ve already been to the studio to work on demos and their upcoming EP. 2021 saw the release of their fifth studio track Johnny & The Phoenix as well as several Live tracks. Radon Ultra is modern alternative rock, with more songs and music to come.
