Darow: It Never Rains in Southern California
Darow Reimagines Classic 1970s Hit “It Never Rains in Southern California”
by Jack Rush
Independent artist Darow has released his latest single, a stirring reinterpretation of Albert Hammond’s iconic 1970s hit “It Never Rains in Southern California.” The track is now available on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Amazon Music, and Qobuz.
Recorded at Joshua Tree Recording Studio, Darow’s version pays homage to the timeless original while introducing an updated indie rock vibe that exudes both nostalgia and renewal. The project reflects the artist’s deep connection to Southern California, where he has lived for more than 25 years.
“I was inspired to learn this song many years ago when I realized how true its sentiment is — it really does seem to rain very rarely in Los Angeles,” says Darow. “I thought of writing my own song on that theme, only to discover that Albert Hammond had already captured it perfectly decades earlier.”
“It Never Rains in Southern California” is the latest preview from Darow’s forthcoming LP, 7.20, which will showcase his unique blend of vivid storytelling, heartfelt performance, and eclectic sensibilities for modern audiences.
