North Echo: Finer Things

North Echo debuts in style with “Finer Things”

by Jack Rush

North Echo are a four-piece funk-rock powerhouse rising out of the north of Liverpool—homegrown lads whose tight-knit friendship is the backbone of their sound. Having grown up together, they’ve forged a musical chemistry that feels effortless: glue-tight rhythms, Floyd-esque face-melting guitar solos, groovy, rubber-band basslines, and a drummer so precise you’d swear he was programmed. Their music draws from a rich palette of influences, from ’70s psychedelic rock all the way to modern house, yet the result is unmistakably their own. It’s no surprise they’re already making serious waves across the local scene—these are the ones to watch.

With multiple singles already under their belt and an EP on the horizon, North Echo have their sights set on taking Liverpool—and potentially the rest of the UK—by storm in the coming year. The ambition is there, but more importantly, so is the craft.

Their debut single, “Finer Things,” is a standout introduction to who they are and what they have to say. Written from a place of hard-earned introspection, the track dives into the journey of self-improvement. From the songwriter’s perspective, “Finer Things” marks a shift from carrying the weight of difficult times to discovering clarity, gratitude, and a deeper appreciation for life’s quiet joys. Born out of a period of feeling “down, broken, and spent,” the song captures the moment when struggle stops defining you and instead becomes something refined into wisdom.

“Finer Things” is both a personal declaration—now I’ve found the finer things in life—and a hand extended to anyone still fighting their own battles. It’s a reminder that beauty is often already present; sometimes it just takes a change in perspective to truly see it. With its soulful groove, soaring guitar work, and emotionally honest lyricism, the track not only showcases North Echo’s musical talent but also their willingness to speak to something deeper.

If “Finer Things” is any indication of what’s coming, North Echo are on the cusp of something big. Liverpool’s music scene has birthed countless greats—and North Echo might just be next in line.
