Hailing from Locarno in Switzerland’s Canton Ticino, Still Silence are a rising nu/alternative metal band channeling the raw energy of the early 2000s while carving out a sound that feels firmly rooted in the present. Formed in March 2024 by Elia Gamboni, Paolo Pedroni, Dino Pelloni, and Joey Baccalà, the band’s early journey began with deep dives into covers by genre-defining acts such as Deftones, Papa Roach, System of a Down, and Rammstein—an exploration that quickly forged a strong musical chemistry.
From the outset, Still Silence made their mission clear: to create original music that honors the giants of nu and alternative metal while introducing modern textures and a careful balance between crushing heaviness and melodic accessibility. As the songwriting evolved, the band recognized the need for greater depth and dynamic range, leading to the addition of lead guitarist Matteo Bonfatti. With this expanded lineup, the Still Silence project fully crystallized.
Between late May and early June 2024, the band recorded their first three tracks, marking the opening chapter of their recorded output. A later lineup shift in September 2025 saw bassist Dino depart and Flavio Nodari step in, injecting fresh energy and momentum into the band’s evolving sound.
Their debut single, “Still In The Dream,” arrives as a confident introduction to what Still Silence do best. Musically, the track blends melodic hooks with powerful, driving riffs and a sense of emotional weight that never sacrifices intensity. It’s a sound that feels both familiar and revitalized, rooted in nu-metal tradition while pushing toward a more contemporary edge.
Lyrically and conceptually, “Still In The Dream” explores sleep paralysis through metaphor, placing the listener inside the emotional experience of fear, confusion, and panic that accompanies it. That unsettling atmosphere is amplified by the official music video, which translates the psychological distress of paralysis into striking, immersive visuals. The result is a tightly aligned audio-visual statement that pulls the listener deeper into the song’s inner world.
With “Still In The Dream,” Still Silence establish themselves as a band with a clear identity and a strong artistic vision. Balancing melody and aggression with purpose and precision, this debut signals a promising future for the Swiss quartet—and a project that understands how to turn personal, visceral themes into powerful modern metal.
