Thank you so much for chatting with us today! We want to get right into your new single “Truth Is”! We love the song! Talk to us about what went into the creative process of this song?

I have a passion for social justice and creative writing. I figured that by marrying the two with our political climate, I could shed some light and understanding to the plight of those fighting for change.

It’s such a powerful single! How long has “Truth Is” been in the works?

I actually wrote "Truth Is" nine years ago. I didn't release it then for a handful of reasons. I was still developing as an artist, a man, and I really just didn't think it would be received. At that point in my career I was still in college and only had a few songs to my name. I'm glad I waited, I'm so happy how it came out.

What has been the most powerful response you’ve received about this song?

A friend of mine told me he never really saw how I could be a victim of systemic racism. The truth is, I've lived a blessed life because my parents busted their ass and provided a beautiful life for me. However, because of our racist past and present, I am still considered less than. By visually communicating this story, they took a second look at their views on racial tensions.

Can you tell us about what the making of the music video of “Truth Is” was like?

I made this video with one of my best friends Andres Rovira. We met in college and I showed him the song back in 2011. That's when he bought into my artistry and his belief in me has propelled me to where I am today. Coming up with the concept was easy because we click so well. I also used my cousin Maya Nalli and the songs producer Darien Newton in the video. Having people who are passionate about social justice and also so close to me truly made this a special project.

We want to stay connected! Where can our audience watch and listen to “Truth Is” and continue to follow YOU!
