Interview: Riley Resa

Riley Resa has been singing since she surprised her family and friends singing in a 5th grade talent show. But her journey began when she was as asked to turn her beginning of high school experience into a song for an Anti-bullying short film. Since then her first Original song , Broken has been featured in 3 short films, featured in 2 summer camp curriculums and helped her to win OCPS Top Talent Fan Favorite 2019. She now works with Hutch Down Records and has produced several more songs as well as traveled to LA to film her last 2 music videos. “Can’t take it with you” co starring Seth James and “The Only One” starring social Influencer, Jonas Bridges.

We had the pleasure of checking in with Riley on the occasion of the release of her eponymous EP and she was kind enough to respond to a few interview questions.

We are stoked to have you today. Tell us about your fall season so far! What are you up to?

Thank you for having me! I just recently released my first five song EP that I am very excited about! It’s available on most streaming platforms. I am also working on a Christmas song and hoping to release it in December with my Independent Label Hutch Down Records! And we filmed 3 videos for the release of my EP. We were able to film in Nashville and Orlando. I have been blessed to be able to travel around the country. Hopefully soon we will be able to travel internationally!

Any mantras before starting your writing process?

Whenever I write, it is usually because I am in my feels. When something has me upset or I am going through a hard time, writing about it is a great way for me to release my emotions. I also like to draw inspiration from my favorite artists, like Ariana Grande!

How do you feel about genre labels?

I believe that genre labels are a great tool for marketing. However, I personally don’t force myself to stick to one genre. I write whatever I feel!

Hardest aspect of performing?

The hardest aspect of performing for me would probably be picking the right style for the venue. I try to match my set to the mood of the venue I’m performing at, so sometimes it is hard to find the right songs to match.

Biggest plan for 2021?

In 2021, I hope to release several more songs along with many music videos! I will also be working on my performance skills so that if touring is possible I can make it amazing! I am hoping to be able to tour if COVID is under control! Although, my biggest hope would be to collaborate with my favorite artists!
