Whitney Tai: "Surrender"

Singer-songwriter, Whitney Tai and #1 Billboard Producer, Tim Janssens debuted their new single “Surrender” on April 10th off of their forthcoming album Apogee. Branded by Music Connection Magazine as “one of the Top Live Bands in Los Angeles,” and endorsed by pro-audio giant, Warm Audio, boasting a roster of artists such as Fitz & The Tantrums, PVRIS and Within Temptation, Tai is set to release Apogee as her second full length LP. “Surrender” is mastered by Grammy Award Winning Gavin Lurssen of Lurssen Studios (Pink Floyd, Tom Waits, Sheryl Crow). The littlest Voice writes, “The single has everything from grandiose piano melodies to skin-tingling vocal crescendos, and even an entrancing string accompaniment. There is nothing missing in this song. Perhaps the only complaint is that at three and a half minutes it’ll leave you breathless and wanting more.”

Apogee discusses the human psyche, Tai states, “it’s about the pivotal moment of staring in on oneself from the furthest point, in zero gravity of infinite space, from the Apogee, where breath and heartbeat are all you have left, facing your darkest demons, knowing answers and change begin within you.” Music Junkie calls Apogee “ten songs that range from dream pop to power ballads, all delivered with Tai’s trademark seamless blend of scalpel-sharp lyrics, subtle production details and powerhouse voice that contains both the child and the Valkyrie.”

Whitney Tai is a New York born - LA based singer-songwriter & creative director. Symphonic, ethereal and cinematic, her seductively fierce alt-rock soundscapes demand every one of the senses. She began writing poetry, illustrating and crafting songs at the age of 7, performing and creating through her teen years. The thirst for art amplified in intensity to overcome the death of her Mother to a terrifying battle of Ovarian Cancer when she was just 10 years old. Art and nature drew Tai into architectural design, studying at NYSID, one of NYC’s most prestigious design colleges. Healing herself through the world of fine art, she crafted her first debut album in 2015 Metamorphosis, a 7-song suite that captured the trauma and resolve of nursing her dying grandfather, betrayal in love, overcoming depression/abuse and discovering her personal voice as an artist. Anchored by the cinematic production of chart-topping producer and composer Tim Janssens, Tai was put in the same conversation with artists such as Kate Bush and Annie Lennox. In 2020, Tai landed the 50th Anniversary cover in 2019 of the longest-running rock newspaper publication, The Aquarian, and kicked off the new year headlining at NAMM 2020.

“Entering into one of her boundless soundscapes is a listening experience unlike any other,” states Happy Magazine. Critics are calling the new album due this spring, “polished” “a masterpiece”, “evoking inner desires” ,“a journey to the soul”, “like watching a film you fall violently in love with and want to watch over and over." “Surrender” is available worldwide on all digital platforms. Their next single “Righteous” hits on May 12.
