VAN COUVER: Everything Will Work Out (Eventually)

VAN COUVER grow into their own with their sophomore album “Everything Will Work Out (Eventually)”

by Jack Rush

Formed in Lugano in 2018, VAN COUVER return with their second full-length album, Everything Will Work Out (Eventually), a record that confirms the band's artistic growth and strengthens their position within the contemporary indie-rock landscape.

Their 2023 debut, How's The Weather?, introduced a group capable of channeling the atmospheric melancholy of early Interpol and Slowdive through tightly wound guitars and hypnotic vocals. Three years later, VAN COUVER sound less concerned with finding their identity and more interested in fully inhabiting it.

The journey between the two albums has been significant. The 2024 single Belong expanded the band's sonic palette with sharp shoegaze textures, while their 2025 reinterpretation of Double's classic The Captain of Her Heart demonstrated both confidence and versatility. Those experiences seem to have crystallized into a clearer artistic vision, one that reaches full maturity on Everything Will Work Out (Eventually).

If the British alternative sounds of the 1990s and the New York indie-rock explosion of the early 2000s were to meet and evolve together over the next three decades, the result might sound something like this. Across ten tracks, VAN COUVER build a world where nostalgia and modernity coexist naturally, creating music that feels familiar without ever sounding derivative.

The leap forward from the debut is remarkable. Composition, production and overall personality have all grown considerably. The rhythm section is particularly impressive: bass and drums are groovier, more intricate and more dynamic, yet they never sacrifice energy or momentum. Above them, the lead guitar crafts textures that feel simultaneously chaotic and minimalist, melancholic yet hopeful. These melodic details are balanced by a raw, assertive rhythm guitar rooted firmly in indie-rock tradition.

Vocally, the band displays a new level of maturity. Rather than simply carrying melodies, the vocals function as an additional instrument within the arrangements, helping create a cohesive and instantly recognizable sound. There is a palpable sense of chemistry throughout the album, a shared musical intuition that allows the four members to explore new territory without ever losing sight of their core identity.

At the heart of the record lies a powerful theme: resilience. Everything Will Work Out (Eventually) serves as a manifesto for anyone seeking redemption from difficult experiences, whether toxic relationships, bullying, self-doubt or social pressure. The album confronts these struggles honestly, yet avoids cynicism. Instead, it transforms adversity into determination and self-belief.

The songs also acknowledge the universality of personal battles. Beneath appearances, even those who seem to have perfect lives are fighting their own wars. This awareness gives the album emotional depth and authenticity, turning it into both a personal statement and a broader reflection on perseverance.

The self-production deserves particular praise. In an era increasingly dominated by polished and standardized sounds, VAN COUVER have created a record that feels alive. The production prioritizes artistic vision over technical perfection, allowing the songs to breathe and preserving the emotional immediacy of the performances.

The result is an album designed to be revisited. These ten songs can provoke anger, sadness, excitement and hope, often within the same listening session. More importantly, they leave behind a message that feels both simple and necessary: life may not become easier, but eventually we find the strength to move forward.

With Everything Will Work Out (Eventually), VAN COUVER have delivered a convincing and emotionally resonant second album—one that not only marks a significant step forward for the band, but also suggests that their most exciting work may still lie ahead.
