Sleep/less: Better Days
Sleep/less Turn Pop-Punk Nostalgia Into a Wake-Up Call on ‘Better Days’
by Jack Rush
Winnipeg pop-punk five-piece Sleep/less (Sleepless) return with “Better Days,” a punchy new single released October 9, 2026, marking the first taste of their upcoming full-length album. Blending early-2000s pop-punk nostalgia with a heavier alternative-rock edge, the 2:58 track launches a new run of singles planned for release every eight to ten weeks.
At its core, “Better Days” explores the disappointment of taking someone or something for granted, only to discover that the support you expected might not be there when you need it most. As guitarist Brad Conrad Wiebe explains, the song is about realizing that, ultimately, you may have to rely on yourself. It’s a relatable theme that gives the band's energetic sound an introspective undertow.
Formed in 2018, Sleep/less draw inspiration from the melodic hooks of Good Charlotte and One Ok Rock, alongside the heavier sounds of Bullet for My Valentine and Children of Bodom. The result is a blend of infectious pop-punk energy, muscular rock instrumentation and emotionally open-ended lyrics. On “Better Days,” the band continue to build on that identity while setting the stage for their forthcoming album.
The accompanying official video takes a different approach, playing with music history and nostalgia in a way that deliberately contrasts with the song's underlying message. The single is independently released and available now on all major streaming platforms.
Sleep/less have steadily built their profile through releases including the standout single “Laska,” the fan-favourite 2023 EP Bring Back Movie Quote Song Titles, and 2025's “Say Goodbye.” They have shared stages with Finger Eleven, Big Wreck and Our Lady Peace, as well as toured Canada's West Coast. Their sound has earned praise from outlets including GigRadar, which highlighted their engaging pop-punk style and heavier rock influences, and Rock Culture, which described the emotional atmosphere evoked by “Say Goodbye.”
With “Better Days,” Sleep/less kick off their next chapter with a familiar blend of nostalgic hooks, heavier guitars and personal themes. As the band approach their tenth anniversary, the upcoming album promises to be the next milestone in their evolution.
