Billy Stuart: Sink With Me
Billy Stuart Marks a New Artistic Chapter With Debut Solo EP ‘Sink With Me’
by Jack Rush
Northern California singer-songwriter Billy Stuart has released Sink With Me, a five-track debut EP that marks a significant departure from his longstanding involvement in the region’s underground heavy music scene.
Released October 9, 2026, the project represents the culmination of material composed across nearly two decades, bringing together disparate periods of Stuart’s musical development through a cohesive examination of loss, emotional vulnerability, and the complexities of personal transformation.
Previously associated with hardcore punk outfit Strike To Survive and instrumental doom metal group The Blue Sunshine Family Band, Stuart now embraces a more restrained musical vocabulary, incorporating acoustic instrumentation, piano, and atmospheric electric guitar arrangements.
Recorded at Sacramento’s Uprise Recording between January and March 2026, the EP was developed alongside producer Michael Cox, who contributed instrumentation and oversaw engineering, mixing, and mastering.
The recording process was subsequently overshadowed by tragedy when Cox died in a collision involving an impaired driver approximately one week after their final session together. His contributions remain integral to the completed project, lending its release particular personal significance.
Across compositions including “Downtrend,” “The Open Door,” and the concluding title track, Stuart addresses emotional disintegration, difficult separations, and the uncertainty accompanying necessary change. The instrumental “Reprieve” provides a contemplative interlude within the five-song collection.
With Sink With Me, Stuart establishes a distinct solo identity while preserving the emotional intensity that has characterized his musical career, presenting a deeply personal body of work shaped by experience, artistic evolution, and remembrance.
